Privacy policy

Escarpe Escalade collects as little information as it can. This page explains what, why, and what you can ask us about it.

What this site stores

One cookie is set on this site by default: it remembers the language you picked with the FR / EN switch, for one year. It is only written if you change language, and it contains nothing but “fr” or “en”. Advertising cookies are set only if you accept them — see the next section.

We use Plausible to count visits. It is a cookieless tool that follows nobody from page to page or from site to site: it tells us how many people saw a page, not who. Because it collects no personal information, it runs for everyone and we don't have to ask your permission.

Your answer to the consent bar is kept in your browser's local storage, on your own device. It is never sent to us, and its only job is to know whether to ask you again.

Advertising and measurement cookies

We advertise on Facebook and Instagram. To know which ads actually bring people to the gym, we can load the Meta pixel: a small script that tells Meta which pages you visit on this site and, where it applies, that a form was submitted. Meta can tie that activity to your account and use it to target advertising.

We may also load Google Analytics, which measures the same actions for us: pages viewed, forms sent, calls placed from the site. Unlike Plausible it sets cookies (_ga) and recognises your browser from one visit to the next, which is how it knows whether this is your first time here or your fifth. Google can tie that activity to your Google account.

None of that happens until you accept. While the bar is unanswered — or if you decline — no Meta or Google script is loaded and none of those cookies are set. Declining takes exactly the same one click as accepting, and takes nothing away from the site.

You can change your mind at any time: “manage cookies”, at the bottom of any page, brings the question back. If you withdraw consent we stop sending data immediately and delete the cookies already set (_fbp and _fbc for Meta, _ga for Google).

What Meta and Google then do with the information they have received is governed by their own privacy policies, not by this one.

The forms

There is no form on this site at the moment. We do not ask for your name, your email address or your phone number anywhere, and none of it is collected or stored.

To reach us, write to info@escarpe.ca or call: those exchanges happen in our mailbox, not on this site. The day a form or a newsletter is added, this page will say so before it collects anything.

External services

Booking, the waiver of risk and gift-card purchases happen on our provider's own platform, on their site. Anything you enter there is governed by their policy, not this one.

The site's typefaces are served by Google Fonts, which passes your IP address to Google when the page loads.

At the gym

In person we keep what we need to sell you an entry or a membership and to hold your signed waiver on file: name, contact details, and the dates you visited. That information is used to run the gym and for nothing else.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or ask us to delete it where we aren't required to keep it.

Write to info@escarpe.ca and we'll get back to you.
